10 Years of Appreciating Delray Beach and it Only Gets Better

After living in Delray Beach for 10.5 years, we believe the best years are still to come.

When my family moved here from Costa Rica in August, 2015, we had no idea what to expect in Delray Beach. My wife visited with friends in 2011, then I did in early 2015. We knew we liked the beach lifestyle, but had no idea we plopped our lives in one of the most fun cities around.

And each year, Delray Beach keeps delivering more great reasons to live here.

At first it was the beach. Then it got the first Blue Flag award in 2023. And now Delray Beach holds that two years in a row. At the same time it’d been voted best Beach in Florida by USA TODAY 10Best 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Then came the plethora of developments that are reshaping Delray Beach and our Village by the Sea. First was the 111 SE 1st Ave condo project. Then the aLoft hotel/condo’s. The Delray Beach Market is now managing through its second iteration. And The Ray Hotel, the Marriott Courtyard, the Opal Resort. Now the Seagate Hotel is almost done with its renovation.

Then the massive Atlantic Crossing. Phase I is complete with apartments, commercial anchor tenants and four restaurants. Phase II is under construction with completion plans for late 2027.

Next is Sundy Village. Construction for this prime development at the heart of the city should be complete by summer, then the buildout of each tenant will take place. We expect openings to start in early Q4 this year.

Delray Beach Real Estate

We’re still waiting for the property where Doc’s Burgers was to commence at the corner of Atlantic and Swinton Ave’s.

Within Pineapple Grove there are three properties that’ll be future developments. One is on the west side of NE 2nd Ave between NE 1st and 2nd streets (it’s mostly boarded up now). That’s almost an entire city block that will transform. Another is on the corner of NE 2nd Ave and NE 3rd Ave’s, on NE 3rd street is slated for big plans. And last, the 1.4 acre site along the train track next to Arts Warehouse is one more prime location.

All this and I don’t have space to discuss neighborhood transformations in Osceola Park, the NW Neighborhood Project, or all the new homes going up in north Palm Trail.

I’ll save that for another essay soon. In the meantime, I need to update my video last year, “Downtown Delray Restaurants…”, as this high season saw more than 10 new restaurants open with more scheduled soon.

I know this essay is a tangent from my normal real estate talk, but Delray Beach is just good real estate. So, I write about the latest happenings in Delray Beach in the event you’re still contemplating a move to Delray Beach. Or, if you’re thinking of selling, have you taken a moment to realize how fun and good your life is here?
