BOCA RATON REAL ESTATE GUIDE

Boca Raton Basics –

This piece of paradise was founded in 1925 and is now home to about 100,000 people – population fluctuations are attributed to “high-season” and “low season” levels and folks who live here part time to get away from cold winters in the north! The Boca Raton Real Estate Guide has a difficult time finding fault with anything here – Boca (as the locals call it) is a beautiful and clean city with historic charm and a small-town feel.

Boca is in Palm Beach County and is considered one of the wealthiest areas in the country. Beautiful beaches, upscale living, palm trees, and location!

Location is always a favorite topic of the Boca Raton Real Estate Guide!  Boca is less than three hours from each Tampa and Orlando (if you need a theme park fix), about an hour to Miami (for all a 6.2 million population metro area has to offer), and in the meantime – you are right on the Atlantic coast!

The city was designed by infamous architect Addison Mizner, the most notable architect (sans a formal education in the subject!) in South Florida and known for his ironwork designs, Spanish and Mediterranean styles, and a mastermind of design.

About the Amenities …

The City of Boca Raton has done a splendid job of maintaining a pristine environment while focusing on proper infrastructure, programs, and economic development. An example of this is in the building restrictions – buildings cannot exceed certain height specs, so they do not interfere with the natural beauty and environment.  Also, there are no neon signs allowed in the city of Boca! Great city management here, striving to maintain aesthetics and a coastal vibe.

Your Boca Raton Real Estate Guide is thrilled to tout the education system here. The students here are educated by the schools in the Palm Beach County School District – consistently receiving highest rankings for education offerings. Higher Education offerings in the area are many and Boca is home to Florida Atlantic University (FAU).

Town Center Mall is a destination for locals and visitors alike – with nearly 200 stores, every price point and style is covered here. Luxury brands (Gucci, Cartier, Versace …) to department stores (Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdales …) and even a Tesla store (no other auto dealerships in the city limits!).

Speaking of shopping – every type imaginable is here in Boca – boutiques, big box, outdoor, and amazing thrift stores!

The water! Atlantic coast, gorgeous beaches, palm trees … you get the idea … The Boca Raton Real Estate Guide can assure you that every water sport imaginable is available here! The “palm beaches” are certainly worthy of their “best in the state” bragging rights.

Boca is also known for the arts – galleries, festivals, and art shows/openings. A day in the Boca Raton Museum of Art is always an inspirational and relaxing way to spend time. The museum hosts community events, classes, lectures, and more – believing in the power of art is at the core of everything here.

The Fogelman Sports Museum, located on FAU’s campus, is a must visit for any sports enthusiast – over 1200 items of sports memorabilia on display!

Now, about sports here – your Boca Raton Real Estate Guide has that covered for you!

  • Hockey – Florida Panthers
  • Football – Miami Dolphins (or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, if you must!)
  • Baseball – Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, and spring training teams
  • College Sports – University of Miami and FAU
  • Golf!!! Thirty-four courses in Boca! And nearly 100 total within just miles! A couple of favorites for the Boca Raton Real Estate Guide include Osprey Point and Red Reef. While we can’t guarantee your game will improve, we can guarantee you will have ample opportunity to try! Plenty of private clubs and courses as well as public options.
  • Parks galore! Boca has 46 parks, over 1600 acres. The City’s parks and recreation department manages great sports programs, community events, and all types of facilities from skate parks to dog parks to concerts in the park! Red Reef Park is a fantastic place to snorkel, Sugar Sand Park is a family get-away with a carousel, science center, and a community theater.

Real Estate and Neighborhoods –

The facts are – Boca is a wealthy area – housing prices are the largest contributor to the cost-of-living index here running about 120 (based on the national average of 100). This doesn’t mean your Boca Raton Real Estate Guide cannot find you the perfect place to live … it just means we need the specifics – budget, location, home type (single-family, condo, patio, gated…), size of home, lot size, etc. The current median sales list price is about $535K, but here in Boca there can be a lot of “add-on” items to the list price – community fees, club dues, etc. This is not meant to discourage; we just need to be diligent! Some favorite neighborhoods to start your search include:

  • Lotus – new homes, generally starting around $1 million
  • Boca Square – charming, old-Florida look, homes built in the 1960’s and 1970’s
  • Royal Palm Yacht Club – gated, exquisite
  • Boca Ridge
  • Boca Falls

Within neighborhoods you will find walking and biking trails, friends and neighbors, low crime rates, and wonderful coffee shops and eateries nearby. You might even run into some of the celebrities who call Boca home – Bon Jovi, Ariana Grande, Jeff Gordon, and others!
