Whether you’re about to retire, looking to raise a family, or launch a business, the idea of living in Florida is a good decision. And, you’re not alone with over 850 people making the same decision each day.
You see, I lived in SoCal most my younger life – California is amazing! Then we lived in Costa Rica for 13 years – stunning! And now we’ve been living in Florida for 7+ – it gets better each year.
There are plenty of reason why not to do something in life. But if you are contemplating living in Florida, it’s good to understand what it’s like.
Google this, “How Many People Are moving to Florida Each Day.” You’ll see a range from 875 – 1000 people moving here daily. That’s the size of a New Orlando Each Year. That’s between 319,375 – 365,000 per year.
Below I outline the main reasons folks find themselves living in Florida. The list is not in any order. I just want to share the facts and details…
RETIREMENT

- Florida earns 14 Spots in Top 50 Places to retire – that’s 28% of the best retirement spots are in Florida
- 8 of the top 10 are in Florida.
- And the Top 4 are in Florida, too.
TAXES & NUMBERS
- You can get a break on your real estate taxes just because you’re living in Florida. We call it the “5-10% Instant Raise” by not paying state income tax where you live today
- You won’t have to fill out a personal state income tax form every year – what a time saver.
- Although real estate prices are up in Florida, it still ranks well in Cost of Living reports compared to the US. You can get more in my video here where I show Florida is 2% lower than the rest of the US

GENERAL
- You won’t have to pay for heat during the winter when you’re living in Florida Florida – okay fine, you’re A/C does work hard in the 5 months of summer
- While living in Florida, you’ll meet people from all over the US and the globe because not many folks that live in Florida were born here (that’s about 95% true).
LIFESTYLE
- You can golf, bike, ride your motorcycle, swim or do any other outdoor activity that doesn’t involve snow or cold temperatures… all year long.
- Beach Cruiser Bikes are a thing
- Golf Carts are a preferred driving choice. To get a street-ready and legal golf cart will cost between $6k – $12k depending on accessories
- Growing tropical fruit like Mangos, Papaya, Bananas, avocado, coconuts or figs. You will actually become a “green thumb” without even trying as most anything grows here.
- Along with your Realtor, you’ll see properties wearing Flip Flops and shorts (in many cases)
- Washing your car in the rain – like my daughter does – is a thing
- Your collection of hats will be your biggest collection of all
- Shorts and dresses rule – pants don’t
- Sunshine fashion is in… business fashion is out
So if you’ve been waffling on the idea when you will act on this lifelong idea of living in Florida – what are you waiting for? Life is passing you by.
