Today I have two local Delray Beach businesses to talk about.
1.) Have you heard of Community Greening before?
They were founded a half-dozen years ago with the mission to plant trees in our local area. Today date, they’ve planted 20,678 trees. Most are in Delray Beach, but they stretch to West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Boca Raton and beyond. They’ve partnered with these cities.
As you drive throughout Delray Beach you’ll see their Community Greening signs on various park areas. There are lots of them.
Of course, they’re a non-profit. They’ve done a lot of work and are creating a good impact on our lands. I encourage you to peruse their website to learn about their mission, growth, and programs for volunteer work.
*** Speaking of which, I’d like to find 12+ people to join me in their Boca tree nursery. It’d be a fun morning volunteering our help, learning neat things about planting, and showing support to a local endeavor. And some fun getting our hands dirty.
Once I get 12 people, I’ll organize a weekday for us to meet. If that’s you, reply, “YES.”
I hope you will join me.
2.) New Restaurant Alert – Santanas
Last Saturday my wife texted me, “A new Latin restaurant in the Andre Design District” (If you’re not familiar with that are, here’s a video I published about it a year ago). It’s a cool spot off the beaten Delray Beach path you should check out.
Well, two days ago I went to see who they are. Amy and Andy. Fun couple. They’ve had a catering business for a handful of years and are now opening at 1876 Dr. Andres Way #102 in Delray.
They’ll be designated as a Delray Beach Green Building Council member with their focus on sustainability and quality food. I wanted to know all about that, so I asked Amy and here’s what she had to say:
* “We have Coconut fiber bowls
* Bamboo sporks
* Two types of straws: one made of hay that doesn’t effect the plant, and the other is Phade Straw – it’s marine biodegradable. We welcome this for our beaches and marine life
* Have a nice living wall
* We have compostable bags
* We use recycled paper for our to-go orders
* We support a local beef company
* And we plan to have electric vehicles for delivery in the near future.”
Oh right, their food. They have Spanish Empanadas (Emps), Sweet Plantains, Mole Negro, 4 different Arepas, a Latin Smokestack Burger and more. They serve coffee’s and some spectacular teas. Their ambiance is inviting. Oh, and their bathroom is the nicest I’ve seen. Take a look:
Put Santanas on your list of places to eat in Delray Beach. While there walk around Andres Design and get familiar with other local businesses.

*** The Delray Beach Creative Arts School is OPEN. Locals know we’ve waited a couple years and it’s back. Head over there or visit their site for more details
*** My wife and I, with our good friends, went to Driftwood last Saturday for our first time. It won’t be our last. From the second you walk you feel welcomed. Top-notch service, delicious menu… we were completely satisfied. Thanks C&K! P.S. Driftwood isn’t in Delray Beach, but just on the border of it in Boynton Beach
*** I’ve toured some Delray Beach homes recently where the air quality was not up to snuff. Here’s a good reminder if you think you may have odors in your home. I wrote about The Importance of Indoor Air Quality and how to purify it in an essay last February. It’s applicable today
