High season is here. You can tell by cruising Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray.
I’ll go on record saying it started this past weekend. Why? Look no further than Atlantic Avenue for clues:
* Honking horns are back
* The line to get in at Tin Roof was 125 feet long
* Restaurants were packed
* The smell of cigars
* The cool, refreshing breezes on morning beach walks
* I can hear live music in my bedroom when the wind blows just right
On top of that, my daughter and I walked 3.3 miles last Saturday night, up and down Atlantic Avenue and Pineapple Grove, in downtown Delray.
Here’s what we found:
* 64 restaurants
* 6 Ice creamery’s
* 1, 100-ft. tall XMas tree
* The moon lighting up the beach
* A tour boat and high rise condos along the intracoastal
* A magical, tropical evening in South Florida
* Lights, music and folks dancing atop The Ray at the Rosewater Rooftop
Last weekend had a new vibe to it. The air was dry. Humidity almost gone.
What does all this have to do with real estate?
EVERYTHING.
You see, Delray Beach is now a destination. Our name is out. And the more eyeballs that come here the next 6 months, the more “demand” it creates. Like any gorgeous tropical town… it doesn’t stay undiscovered for too long.
I mean, what’s not to love about this photo below looking north from Atlantic Avenue up the intracoastal at midnight:
You can analyze the real estate data for our town… but getting out there and seeing what’s going on is just as important. When you do, you’ll see Delray Beach with a glowing future. It just feels like a great place to live and call home.
Oh, don’t keep your compass pegged on Atlantic Avenue. Stroll north up NE 4th Ave where you’ll find The Beer Trader, and a fabulous Jamaican eatery. Or head down SE 2nd to Olio, and down SE 3rd to The OG. Don’t forget 3rd & 3rd on the NE side near Bedners – that street looks so good after the last two years of development. Take a stroll, look around.
One last thought from a downtown local – when driving around town, give a (more) little space between cars. Especially on Linton Ave over the train tracks. Going east over the tracks the two left lanes merge and is an area to be careful.
On Atlantic Avenue at the train tracks, there will be more people crossing. And remember, Brightline trains pass our area doing 80mph. There have been cars hit south of Delray so be alert.
Beyond that, cheers to a fun and safe Village By The Sea this winter.
I’m open for business.
