Every place has its good and bad – no need to hide from any of it. Below I share 9 reasons why you will hate living in Delray Beach.
In order to make a good decision, you need to look at not just the good, but what’s not so good, too. The main thing is if you’re thinking about living in Delray Beach, you need to know about everything.
You see, my family has been living in Delray Beach since 2015. Those who find out why we left Costa Rica after 13 years are beyond curious why we chose Delray. After all, we left a rain forest that provided a lifestyle second-to-none. Our choice for living in Delray Beach was easy – it offer us a complimentary lifestyle to what we knew, while not being to much of a jolt.
But for you, living in Delray Beach may not be what you think it will be. I mean, you say potato, I say “potahtoe.” So let’s take a look at some of the things you may not like about living in Delray Beach – cuz we need to get this out on the table now…
If you like clean air, you won’t like living in Delray Beach. The air here is clean and free of smog or industrial pollution. But your lungs love it. And speaking of air, if you don’t like the tropics, this isn’t for you. The tropics are all about humidity and that feeling that soothes your skin, nourishes it so you don’t need to wear creams. But if you don’t like humidity, too bad.
Next up is seafood. We are surround by ocean on all sides so there’s lots of it. But if you are not a fan of seafood and the freshest fish anywhere, bummer. Speaking of that, Captain Clay & Sons seafood has been operation in Delray for over 40 years. All they sell if fresh fish and seafood. It’s not the stuff you get in stores that took days or longer to get in the coolers. Nope, this is fresh! So if you don’t like fresh fish, you won’t like it here.
People. Living in Delray Beach is all about our people. All walks of life come here. But we are a small population with about 70,000 folks. Not too big, not too small. It’s a great feel. Some come for the country clubs, too. That may be something you don’t care for. Fine. Don’t bother with them.
Delray Beach averages about 60 inches of rain per year. If you don’t like rain, this place isn’t for you – but it’s what helps keep our air fresh, gardens green and produce growing like crazy.
Living in Delray Beach is all about the arts. All year long there are art fairs, festivals, painters from across the globe who paint beautiful things in our alleys. Then there’s Cornell Art Museum where you can learn to paint or take photography classes. Or stop by dozens of art galleries.
And last, if you’re the person who wants to stay at home, not enjoy yourself, not be stimulated with fun, sun, beach, great food… living in Delray Beach just isn’t for you.
